1. Who we are

VAT Checker for Sheets (the "Add-on") is a Google Sheets add-on published by a sole trader established in France (the "Publisher"). Contact: barterfrance@gmail.com.

2. What the Add-on does

The Add-on provides a custom function =VAT() (alias =TVA()) which takes a VAT number typed in a cell, queries the European Commission's VIES service (and, for French numbers when VIES is unavailable, the INSEE Sirene API) and writes the validity, registered name and address back into your spreadsheet.

3. Data the Add-on accesses

Cell contents passed to the function: only the VAT number(s) you give to =VAT(). The Add-on does not read any other cell.
Licence key (Pro subscribers): stored in Google Apps Script user properties, tied to your Google account, to verify your subscription.
Free-check counter: a single number, stored the same way.

The Add-on requests only the Google permissions strictly needed: access to the current spreadsheet (spreadsheets.currentonly), connection to external services (script.external_request) and display of a sidebar (script.container.ui).

4. Data shared with third parties

VIES (European Commission) receives the VAT number being checked. A VAT number is a public business identifier.
INSEE Sirene API receives the French SIREN derived from a French VAT number, only when VIES France is unavailable.
Lemon Squeezy (payment provider, Merchant of Record) processes subscription payments and issues licence keys. The Add-on never receives your card details. Policy: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

5. What we do not do

We do not store your spreadsheets. We do not store check results on our servers (a temporary 6-hour cache exists inside Google Apps Script, on Google's side, to avoid duplicate requests). We do not sell, rent or share any data. We use no advertising trackers.

6. Google user data

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used solely to provide the function described above.

7. Retention and deletion

The licence key and counter remain in your Apps Script properties while the Add-on is installed. Uninstalling the Add-on, or e-mailing us, is enough to delete them. Billing data is retained by Lemon Squeezy according to its legal obligations.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase and object. Write to barterfrance@gmail.com. You may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.

Any change will be published on this page with its date.
